Why Do It
The Artground encourages everyone who visits our center to be creative by offering opportunities for the child and the artist to remain inquisitive for life.
We draw inspiration from the poem, The Hundred Languages of Children. Hence, our primary arts programmes and ancillary workshops that go beyond the arts realm, facilitate learning through active exploration and empower children to express themselves in a hundred ways.
The child is made of one hundred.
The child has a hundred languages
a hundred hands
a hundred thoughts
a hundred ways of thinking
of playing, of speaking.
a hundred, always a hundred
ways of listening
of marveling, of loving
a hundred joys
for singing and understanding
a hundred worlds to discover
a hundred worlds to invent
a hundred worlds to dream.
– Excerpt from, The Hundred Languages of Children by Loris Malaguzzi.
We want to keep everyone thinking, questioning, exploring, appreciating and discovering, as artists. As Picasso once said,
Every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.
