A casual and intimate sharing session with Bodil Alling (Actor and Artistic Director of Teatret Gruppe 38), Dave Brown (Artistic Director of The PaperBoats) and Jeffrey Tan (Theatre Director and Drama Educator)

About Bodil Alling
Bodil has been part of Teatret Gruppe 38 since 1981, and she has had a leading role in the productions from the theatre since the mid 80’s. She is one of the main figures in the paradigm shift in Danish children’s theatre that happened in the 1980’s. This shift meant defining children’s theatre in a new way and thereby making Danish theatre for children and young people renowned all over the world.

With Bodil Alling as Artistic Director, Teatret Gruppe 38 has won numerous prices for their unique way of storytelling and their approach to young theatre audience.
About Dave Brown
Dave Brown is a Performance-Maker and the Artistic Director for The PaperBoats, an international partnership platform for theatre-makers and presenters interested in pioneering new ways of CONNECTING and CREATING around the devising of extraordinary new works for early childhood audiences. The PaperBoats inaugural project is a five-year proof of concept venture involving artistic communities in Australia, Singapore, USA and NZ, who are all devising works for children from a single shared animating idea – “explore two”. The PaperBoats’ first international work, Especially on Birthdays, a non-verbal visual theatre production about twins, is being performed at the “100 and 100 more” festival.
About Jeffrey Tan
Jeffrey Tan has been working as a theatre director, drama educator and arts producer for the last twenty-nine years since 1989. His recent productions include the Singapore International Festival of Arts commission ‘Open Homes’ (2017), ‘Island Stories’ for the Singapore Heritage Festival (2017), ‘Shrimps in Space’ for Generasia (2016) and ‘CrossRoads, You. Terrorist’ for the Association of Muslim Professionals (2016). For 2018, Jeffrey conceptualized ‘Speeches That Changed the World’ for the Arts House in January as part of the ‘Light to Night’ Festival. Jeffrey returns to his first love children’s theatre with “Into the Blue Forest’, an interactive, intergenerational, multilingual production for the inaugural children’s festival by The Artground in May 2018.
